A photograph of seven siblings. No studio mark is present. On the back written in pencil is "Jay Co. Indiana" and the names "Dan Lyons, John Lyons, Thos. Lyons, Rilla, Mary, Susie, Amanda." Next to that in ink is "Daniel Lyons, John Lyons, Thomas Lyons, Rilla Lyons, Mary (Lyons) Rupe, Susan (Lyons) Smith, Amanda (Lyons) Smiley."

I searched for a Mary Rupe on Findagrave and quickly found her memorial which has links to eight siblings and 11 half-siblings (!). Another two siblings are listed on Ancestry Family Tree. Her father Thomas Lyons (1829-1914) was married twice. His first wife Amanda Melvila (Templeman) Lyons (1836-1879) had children from 1856 to 1878. His second wife Florence L. (Harkins) Lyons (1864-1936) had children from 1882 to 1902.

The back row of the photograph has Daniel Webster Lyons (1882-1924), John Travis Lyons (1856-1942), and Thomas S. Lyons (1859-1928). The front row has Rilla Florence  (Lyons) Lanning (1888-1964), Mary Etta (Lyons) Rupe (1870-1963), Susan Ann (Lyons) Smith (1866-1926), and Amanda Ann (Lyons) Smiley (1858-1927). A photograph on Findagrave of John Travis Lyons confirms that he is the man in the center of the back row.

I purchased a box of photos at an estate sale here in Tucson for $20. Very few of the photos had names on them, but luckily there were a set of letters written in 1927 that identified them as belonging to the Henry Colt family. The letters were written by a teenaged girl to the son of the family. She was at a summer camp in Maine. They didn't provide much useful information other than a name and address. The oldest three are of a child, a pair of young women, and a group of men posed in front of a log cabin. Unidentified child. Two unidentified women. On the back: Eatons. I purchased a set of photographs of University of Michigan students from the late 1890s. Three of them were the same individual, Edgar P. O'Leary.  The first is from the Gibson and Clark studio of Ann Arbor, Michigan. On the back in pencil is "Edgar O'Leary." Edgar O'Leary. The second photo does not have a studio name. It is quite small, 3.5 inches by 3 inches. On the back in black ink is "Mr. O'Leary May 24 1898" and the letter L. Mr. O'Leary. The third photo, also quite small, does not have a studio name. On the back in black ink is "Edgar P. O'Leary July 10-99 After" The word After is in quotation marks. Edgar P. O'Leary.  What can I learned about him?
