I purchased a bin of photos from a local estate auction. Many belong to a family that originated from Michigan.
On the back of this photo in pencil is "Rev. C. A. Fellows." The studio mark states "H. B. Hull Paris Panel Corner 3rd and Court, Portsmouth, O."
Charles A.
Fellows was born on 20 August 1856 in Ohio, the
son of Charles Fellows and Esther Gracey. In July 1860, Charles lived with his
parents and siblings William, John, George, Nathan, Martha, and Henry in Cross
Creek, Jefferson County, Ohio. His father was a laborer.[1]
On 17 June 1870, Charles A.
lived with his parents and siblings John, George, Martha J., Henry, James W.,
Adam C., and Albert F. in Cross Creek. His father was a farm laborer. Charles
had attended school in the last year.[2]
Charles was
married on 4 July 1878 in Jefferson County, Ohio to Anna May Graham.[3]
On 11 June
1880, Charles A. and Annie Fellows and their three-month-old daughter Maud
lived in New Alexandria, Jefferson County, Ohio. Charles was school teaching
and Annie was keeping house.[4]
On 11 June
1900, Charles A. and Anna Fellows and their children Ethel, Ada, and Ray lived
in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio along with boarder Sampson E. Varner. Charles
was a minister and Ethel was a music teacher.[5]
On 10 April 1910, Charles A. and
Anna M. Fellows and their daughter Ada D. lived at 2307 W. Jefferson Street in
Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Charles was a “minister preaching.”[6]
On 30 January
1920, Charles A. and Anna M. Fellows and daughter Ada D. lived on 1st
Street in Solomon, Cloud County, Kansas. They rented their home. Charles was a
church preacher.[7]
In 1925,
Charles A. and Anna M. Fellows and daughter Ada lived in Gaylord, Smith County,
Kansas. Charles was a pastor for a Federated church.[8]
On 8 April
1930, C. A. and Anna M. Fellows and daughter Ada lived on 5th Street
in Solomon, Dickinson County, Kansas. They rented their home for $22 a month
and had a radio. Charles was a Methodist minister.[9]
Anna died on
16 March 1939.
On 5 April
1940, Charles A. Fellows and daughter Ada lived on W. College Street in Broken
Arrow, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. They paid $15 rent monthly. Charles was a
retired minister and Ada was a housewife.[10]
Charles died
on 27 May 1956 in Broken Arrow, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Charles and Anna were
buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Tulsa County.[11]
