I checked Findagrave.com for the two, putting in their birth and death years and searching Victoria County (where Victoria is) and Gray County (where Pampa is). No luck.
I then went to Ancestry public trees and typed in the woman's exact birth and death date. And there she was. Allena (Maphet) Elder, wife of Jason Thomas Elder.
On 1 March 1875, Allena lived with her parents John and Alice Maphet and siblings John, Effie, and Emma in Palymra, Douglas County, Kansas. Her father was a farmer and her mother a housekeeper.
In June 1880, Allena lived with her parents, J. R. and Allice Maphet, and siblings John, Effa, Emma, and Chloe, in Deleware, Otoe County, Oklahoma. Her father worked at "r. roading" and her mother was housekeeping. Allena had attended school in the previous year.
On 16 June 1900, Jason and Allena and their five children- Ollie E., Katie M., Robert V., Clara M., and Jason L.- lived in Berry County, Oklahoma. The elder Jason was a farmer and the oldest three children were attending school.
In May 1910, Jason and Alina, and their five children- Ollie E., Katie M., Bernard R., Clara M., and Jason L. lived in Berry, Grant County, Oklahoma. The elder Jason was a farmer while daughter Ollie was a school teacher.
In January 1920, Jason and Allena, their daughter Myrl C. and son Leroy J. lived in Berry, Grant County, Oklahoma. Jason worked as a general farmer.
On 12 April 1930, Thomas and Allena lived in Precinct 1 of Hildalgo County, Texas. Thomas was a fruit farmer. They owned their home.
I found two newspaper articles describing the accident that killed Jason Elder in 1933.
Blackwell Journal-Tribune (Blackwell, Oklahoma), 13 June 1933, page 7, column 1.Allena had an 80th birthday party in 1949.
She died in 1954.
Allena and her husband were buried in City of Weslaco Cemetery in Weslaco, Hidalgo County, Texas.
And to my surprise, on her memorial is another different photo that I had found at the same sale, for which I had done a previous blog entry.
