Elmira, New York is located in Chemung County. Initial searches for the Barrett family in censuses in Chemung County were unsuccessful. I then searched for Frank Barrett in Elmira, New York scanned newspapers on Newspapers.com. I located his obituary from 1932 that listed son Earl, but not his wife or other son. I then searched Findagrave.com for a Frank Barrett dying in 1932 in New York and located his grave in Elmira,  along with his wife and two sons.

I searched again for Barretts in census records in Chemung County, but was unsuccessful. I broadened the search, looking for Georg* Barrett in New York born 1875 + two years, and then located the family in Steuben County in 1900. Below is the information I then located.

Frank D. Barrett was born in August 1866 (listed as 1867 in 1900 census) in New York, the son of John W. Barrett and Ruth A. (--?--). On 26 July 1870, Frank D. Barrett lived with his parents and siblings Frederick S., Lena R., and Minnie B. lived in Starkey, Yates County, New York. His father was a farm laborer.[1] On 12 June 1880, Frank D. Barrett lived with his parents and siblings Fred S., Charles H., Lena R., Minnie B., George W., J. Warren, and Anna E. in Milo, Yates County, New York. His father and older brothers were laborers.[2]

Frank was married on 18 April 1896 in Campbell, New York to Georganna Sarah Walton.[3]

Georganna (often spelled Georgianna or Georgiana) was born in April 1875 in Steuben County, New York, the daughter of Emory Walton and Kate (--?--). On 14 June 1875, Sarah G. Walton lived with her mother and sisters Kate M. and Grace A. in a frame house in Addison, Steuben County, New York.[4] On 17 June 1880, Georganna lived with her parents and sisters Grace A., Mary R., and Marget in Cameron, Steuben County, New York. Emory was a carpenter.[5]

On 1 June 1900, Frank D. and Georgiana Barrett and their sons Leon F. and Earl, as well as Frank’s brother Warren Barrett lived at 66 E. Pulteney Street in Corning, Steuben County, New York.[6]

On 1 June 1905, Frank D. and Georgia Barrett and their sons Leon F. and Earle W. lived at 150 East Pulteney in Corning. Frank had a grocery business, Georganna was doing housework, and the boys were at school.[7]

On 18 April 1910, Frank and Georgiana Barret and sons Leon and Earle lived at 104 Arthur Street in Corning, Steuben County, New York. Frank was a grocery store owner.[8]

On 1 June 1915, Frank D. and Sarah G. Barrett lived on E. Pulteney Street in Corning with their sons Leon F. and Earl W. Frank was a grocery merchant and Georganna was a house worker while the two sons were students.[9]

In January 1920, Frank and Georgianna Barrett and their son Earl W. lived at 102 Pulteney Street in Corning. They owned their home. Frank was the proprietor of a grocery store and Earl was a purchasing office assistant at a glass works.[10]

On 1 June 1925, Frank D. and Georgianna Barrett lived on W. Fulton Street in Elmira, Chemung County, New York. Frank was a salesman and Georganna was doing housework.[11]

Georganna died on 22 March 1929 in Elmira. She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, Chemung County, New York.[12]

Frank died on 30 January 1932 in Elmira.[13] He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, Chemung County, New York.[14]

Frank and Georganna (Walton) Barrett were the parents of two children:

i.                     LEON F BARRETT was born in September 1895. He died in December 1921. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, Chemung County, New York.[15]

ii.                   EARL WALTON BARRETT was born in February 1898. He died on 21 July 1955. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, Chemung County, New York.[16]
